INteresting topic on fuid resuscitation of pediatrics, was reading something similar in adults that we cause "salt water drowning" with our over resus. Similar to what we used to do/some people still do in DKA.

They excluded everything we care about: gastro, trauma, etc and included everything we don't: ie malaria. Interesting concept. These diseases cause all sorts of weird anemias we never see on top of superimposed malnutrition. I'm generally a broad thinker and overlook minor details for the big picture but even this is stretching it.

stretching maybe, but the endo guy at tth says the same thing. were drowning our dka kids, and the small ers in the area are worse. using a full days fluid resus in a few hours.
