We have gotten pretty damn stagnant again. So instead of cases, would like some input from attendings on things you wish you knew year 1 that you know now. could be lifestyle or medical things ie avoid heavy crack use, or avoid dropping blind line is pt for fun. Whatever it is would be appreciated, afterwards residents can toss in their 1 cent of most likely invaluable life lessons over the past 2 years as well

I recommend planning your finances (or hiring someone to do it for you) so you know what you are saving for retirement, how to pay of loans, etc. Also I strongly recommend not comparing anything you have (car, house, toys) to the other doctors you know as this will have you spending much more than you should.
Another thing I recommend looking into if you have a family is long term disability insurance and life insurance. The rates are very reasonable at our "young" age, and it will provide you some peace of mind if you go do something retarded like wreck a dirtbike

agree with pollak and a few other things. 1. lock in you insurance (life, disability) ASAP and have those terms re-adjusted when your salary goes up. 2. first year out keep your head down, knock out the boards and dont make any crazy purchases. 3. GET A GOOD TAX GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! your taxes first year out will be crazy high because you jumped a bunch of tax brackets. 4. dont be a dick and get along with everyone at work for the first 6 months, establishing a good rep in invaluable!!!!
as for stagnicity i agree. EPNO has a meeting every moth. some of the EPNO docs have mentioned introducing more interesting topics. i woudl like to see some M and M at the meeting. If i can get you on the sched would you be willing to try an M and M for us next month stransky? see how it goes? and where in my nobel prise?
