This patient is a 56 year old male smoker who presents with sudden onset of left sided chest pain and shortness of breath. cant figure out how to add the video, so you have to go to the following webpage to see the chest ultrasound: www.ultrasoundoftheweek.com/uotw-62/Is this a pneumo? What is a lung point sign? How do you tell a true lung point sign from a mimic? Unsure? just go to the website, watch the video, and then click the answer button

Not a pneumo, has sweet sliding lung. lung point sign is the transition from nml to pneumo lung region. looking at this one, it dont see clear pleura on the non moving part, so it doesnt look like lung adjacent to sliding region

yea its actually nml lung, you are right on. with pneumo you would have all flat lines, but in this example you still have tissue moving (its not lung tissue). If you are actually scanning and see this, you have the advantage- knowing where you are scanning makes your interpretation of a possible lung point sign easier (knowing if you are scanning in the upper chest or down by the diaphragm)
