DEan and I were talking about a possible serum marker to risk stratify TIA patients in the ER. did some research and found a possible candidate in Prolactin. Studies have shown that prolactin leves increase in CAV and damage to brain (see attached). I would live to do a study measuring prolactin in the ER on TIA patients and following how many pts have a CVA in the near future. Thus there may be a level of prolactin that indicates that TIA patiens will or will not have a CVA in the near future helping with risk stratification and decision making.
